Chairman of Yad Tamar Israel, Micky Wasserteil : "The success of this unusual event is the first one and we are already working on similar events for next year in 3 other cities in the USA with 3 other teams".

The NY KNICKS have offered "Tamar Fund International" to host a special event for a unique and important cause - raising money for aiding Cancer patients in the USA and in Israel. Cancer patients of all ages, that do not have the measures to go through the illness on their own.
On the March 21st 2010 the KNICKS hosted for the first time a team of teenagers from Israel  on the Madison Square Garden court for  a basketball final between 2 high school teams (Israeli & MDY) that competed each other on the shinning prize of 10 different color diamonds, donated especially for this event by "Briza Color Diamonds", the biggest color diamond company today. The prize later was donated to  Yad Tamar Israel to finance the activities for aiding cancer patients.
At the end of the day the Israeli team won the game 42-28 but the MDI team fault heroically against a trained team.
A few different high school teams in NY have been competing each other during the past 2 weeks, the wining team reached  the final game and competed against an Israeli high school team from the town of Rishon Le Zion, the "Ggymnasa Reali High School". 10 teenagers between the ages of 16-18 years old arrived to NY especially from Israel to participate in this event.
The Israeli team was lead by the coach, Ziv Erez, who trained Omri Caspi  for 6 years in the past and proudly sees   Caspi   play today for the Sacramento Kings.
Participating groups were hosted by the KNICKS and held the joint game right after the KNICKS's game against the HOUSTON ROCKETS. Before the main ceremony the legendary NBA player, JOHN STARK, received a present from the Tamar Fund & the Israeli team as a gesture of good faith as a representor of the KNICKS's. The teenagers of both teams were also be present during the KNICKS's practice before the game and were fortunate to see the players up from close. Both high school teams were on court during the ceremony and "received" the NBA players when they climbed up the court in front of the audience on the ceremony. Usually no one is allowed to be present in such events or get so close to the players on a personal level. Tamar Fund was able to reach these achievements as a result of the good will of the KNICKS management.
5 kids from MDY went up the court as the "Starting 5" & shook hands with the KNICKS staring 5.  A teenager called Jack Anteby, who is recooparting from  cancer, sat on court as CO-Captain (a more than 100,000$ seat) and got to see the game from the player's level.
The Israeli teenagers which this is their first time in NY were ecstatic when they were told that they're going to be on court in the 'visitors fan tunnel" and they got to see the Houston Rockets go through them as if it was a dread come true.
Later on the shining Walt Frazier with a purple suit came up to the fans of MDY & Yad Tamar, signed a basketball, shook hands and said: "helping cancer patients is important, bless you for your work Yad Tamar".
Chairman of Yad Tamar Israel, Micy Wasserteil : "This is the first time Yad Tamar Israel  is enitiating such  big event and our gratitude to Charles Anteby and MDY for making it happen is immense. The success of this unusual event is the first one and we are already working on similar events for next year in 3 other cities in the USA with 3 other teams"
"Tamar Fund International" (TFI) was found in NY in Memory of Tamar Lichtenstadt, who past away from Cancer. TFI challenged to provide support to patients of cancer in all ages and so to support the Oncology staff members and the volunteers ,who are doing days and nights for healing and saving lives.
